I know, it sounds like something the Top Gear team have dreamt up, but this is reality.

This clip does seem like a trailer (no pun intended) for an epic movie but it does well to show exactly what the Sealander can do.

It is light enough to be towed by a small family car, yet with the addition of an outboard motor it can be used to sail the seven seas. Well, not exactly but you get the picture.

With its large windows and removeable roof, you can really appreciate your surroundings whilst floating on a calm and peaceful lake.

Facilities are limited to a a sink, a cool-box, a cooker and a camping toilet, btu what more do you need when you have this much freedom?

Just check out the link at the top of the page to see the Sealander doing what it does best.

The Commercial Director of Swift Caravans Group, Nick Page was delighted with the increase in sales: “The Manchester Show provided a very encouraging start to 2011. The number of people attending the show was well up on last year and provided a clear demonstration that people are still thinking about buying one of our products. With record sales in October and the threat of the VAT increase, we were concerned that this could have a significant impact on early season sales this year.

“With £1.5 million worth of touring caravan sales and £750,000 worth of motorhome sales, figures were very similar to last year indicating that the market for this year will remain positive.â€

The Swift Group debuted the new Escape motorhomes range at the touring caravans show, which will be officially launched at the Swift Caravans stand at the Birmingham NEC later this month.

Campaign group RoadSafe pointed out that older drivers are more prone to simple errors that could cause them to crash.

Clare Simpson, communications executive at the group, explained that overall, older people are safer on the road than their younger counterparts.

However, she said age-related decline in mental and physical abilities can become a problem behind the wheel.

Road safety is particularly important for those towing caravans, so older caravan enthusiasts may wish to heed RoadSafe’s advice.

Ms Simpson also said that modern cars can reduce the risks for older drivers on the road.

“Many models are available with raised seats for easy access and systems to improve blind spot awareness,” she explained.

“These features are not designed to take responsibility away from the driver, but they can be a useful investment.”

Google has refused to help police solve a crime involving a stolen touring caravan which may have been captured by its Street View cameras – unless they get a court order.

Police in Derbyshire have pleaded with the internet giant to release the car registration plate of a vehicle they believe may have been involved in the theft of a family touring caravan.

Cameras used to take photographs of every street in the country captured an image of a driver and a four-wheel-drive vehicle that detectives want to trace over the theft.

The picture was spotted on the internet by the family’s 11-year-old son months after their caravan went missing.

It shows the mystery man standing next to an unrecognised car on the drive of their home next to their caravan.

When the theft occurred there was little evidence to help the police inquiry.  Despite a forensic examination of the wheel clamps that had been securing the caravan the offender was never traced and the vehicle was never recovered.

The victims, surveyor David Soanes and wife Rebecca, believe the image was taken just before the theft from their drive in Linton, Derbys.
However, in common with Street View’s usual approach, the number plate of the vehicle has been blurred out.

But when police asked Google for a copy of the original, the company refused unless the force could get a court order. Officers are now trying to do just that.
Exam invigilator Mrs Soanes attacked Google for failing to help the police solve the crime.

She said: ‘It does seem ridiculous that the information is available but Google is not forthcoming with it, even though it could be used to solve a crime.

‘The 4×4 and the man may not even be involved but at least they could then be ruled out of the investigation.’

South Derbyshire MP Heather Wheeler said: “I am disappointed that Google’s initial reaction is to refuse.

A Google spokesperson explained: ‘It’s very important to Google and our users that we only provide information if valid process is followed, as laid down by governments in law.’
